Painting Contest

With the Grey Knight Terminators nearing completion, I need to start turning my attention to my next entry into my local painting contest. I would like to enter a vehicle into the contest, but I have not decided which one I should paint. I have a few ideas, but nothing set in stone.

My first idea was an Ultramarines Rhino/Razorback mounted on a wooden display board. I would paint the interior and leave the weapon turret magnetized so it could be removed and swapped with the standard hatch. The paint job would be a high-contrast dark to light blue gradient over the panels. I have the Forge World Ultramarines transfer sheet so I could add plenty of flavor to the model.

This happy fella was my next choice; Tyranid Tyrannofex painted in a Hive Fleet Behemoth color pattern. I have never painted a tyranid before and being such a huge Alien franchise fan, they have always interested me. I think I could really pull it off and this is currently a front runner for my next project.

Then of course is the trusty Stormtalon Gunship. I have one painted in Raptors colors sitting on my desk awaiting a final touch up, plus another sitting in a box assembled. I've said before that I really do love this model, despite all the flak it has received on the internet. It is fun to build, fun to paint, and pretty cool looking. If I were to enter it, I would most likely choose a chapter I have never painted, just to test myself. Front runners for that include: Imperial Fists, White Scars, or Silver Skulls.

I also have a box of these guys sitting on my desk because I felt like enter the 15mm scale portion of the contest. They look pretty fun to paint so I need to find time to squeeze these guys in as well. Should be interesting, I have never painted a Flames of War mini before. We'll see how it pans out.
